Second only to the tenderloin in tenderness, and at less than half the price per oz, the petite tender is a great choice if you're lucky enough to get your hands on it! The teres major, also known as the petite tender, is cut from the chuck primal, deep within the shoulder, and resembles a miniature tenderloin. 

The teres major can be prepared either as a small roast or cut into medallion steaks. Average weight is about.   .50 lb. - 1 lb.
